Editorial Review:
Product Description: The sequel to Creative Dance: Enriching Understanding, this book is more of a how-to than a why-do book. The book includes an examination of aesthetic features of creative dance as well as an explication of the movement elements upon which creative dance is based. The author also discusses similarities between creative dance and other art forms and the possibilities inherent in using different art forms as stimuli for creative dance. Additional stimuli include creative themes used in the curriculum of other subject areas, such as season, circus, zoo, farmyard, etc. The author then considers how to plan a creative dance lesson including the elements and features mentioned above, as well as examining the details to consider when planning the lesson, such as students' ages and experience with creative dance, use of props and imagery, and appreciating as well as creating dance pieces. Finally, she provides sample creative dance lessons for preschool, early, middle and senior years.
