Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - VISCERAL AND DARKLY HUMOUROUS!
Bare Bone is fantastic short horror story anthology published bi-annually by Raw Dog Screaming Press. Volume five collects 19 short stories along with 14 poems by a host of talented writers. The eclectic collection hits on numerous horror themes including psychological, supernatural, and brutal reality. This is a guttural, grasping collection that takes hold of the reader on the first story and doesn't let go until long after the book is closed.

...but instead got a good dose of variety. This book contains some very strong psycological horror pieces, as well as some orignial oddball tales and even a Cthulhu-ish ditty. "Pizza Paradiso" and "Pit Crew" were probably my 2 personal faves. Great read, especially at the cover price. The editing is flawless.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Five-carat diamond in the rough!
Damn that crew at Raw Dog Screaming Press, Damn them all! After almost rupturing my spleen compliments of Sick, I thought I had prepared well for BB#5. Coffee -check, blankie -check, empty stomach so as not to further harm my abdominal lining -check. Well kiddies, they got me again and it is with great shame to tell you that I am now cursed with LSD-like perceptual disturbances that the doctors say may or may not end in the not-too-distant future. Thanks Mr. Donihe, I owe you; can you dig it? I knew ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - C'mon, people - love this
Okay - I'm in the magazine. Ignore that, though - I promise I won't talk about my story.

First of all, let's talk about 'Pit Crew' - it's amazing. It's visceral, and real, but it's also got enough weirdness to vault it into the ranks of the great short horror stories...

Oh, and 'The Festering' - brilliant. Wish I'd written it. Glad someone did. Sex, filth, beautiful language, wonderful ending...

Oh, for God's sake - if you like horror, you'll love this magazine. ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Direct from the darkest recesses of the human experience
Bare Bone 5, is just what it purports to be, the bare bones of reality. The skeletons of humanity ripped from there flesh and forced to parade about naked for all to see. It is at once beautiful and frightening. Direct from the darkest recesses of the human experience, these demons are dragged out kicking and screaming, brought into the light and made to dance and sing for our amusement and horror.

BB 5, is at it's bones it's a collection of stories and poems in the realm psychological ... Read More
