Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - "I guess families are an awful pain in the neck sometimes, but there is a lot to be said for them."
Gail Macaulay (Ann Blyth) has it all. She's beautiful, she has a loving family, a faithful boyfriend (Farley Granger), and is about to graduate from high school. She has her fair share of problems, like her ambitious little sister Joan (Joan Evans) who tries to horn in on her boyfriend. However, their mother (Jane Wyatt) seems to keep her in line pretty well, that is until Joan learns a family secret and blurts it out to Gail in an arguement. Gail was adopted. The news turns her life upside down ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful Movie -
I cannot fathom why this lovely film has not been released on DVD as of yet. Perhaps if enough of us mention it in a review, it will happen!! Ann Blyth is such a poop in Mildred Pierce- yet such a lovely gentle young woman in this film, it just confirms how underated her performances were. Yes - Yes, it's a "chick flick" but soooo worth it. You cheer for her, cry for her and beam with pride for her by the end of the film. Very delightful performances by the entire cast.

She explained it beautifully just like Jane Wyatt did in this movie. I laugh about it now, but I can remember at 10 thinking that adoption meant my best friend was more special and more loved than I was because she was "picked". Thank God for ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANYMORE
Times have, really, changed. I miss movies like this one. It is entertaining minus the violence, sex, action, and special affects we have become accustomed to in movies, today. I, recently, saw this movie on the Turner Classic Movie channel. It deals with a more simpler time, family, and a story line that is believable. A child finds out, by accident, that she was adopted. As a result, the family has to come together and deal with the emotional turmoil that everyone in the family experiences. The actors ... Read More
