Editorial Review:

Description:
We hope you enjoy these three stories specially selected from the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed television series, Theodore Tugboat. These fun-filled, gentle adventures center around Theodore, a stouthearted tugboat, and his many floating friends in the magical Big Harbor. Whatever each new day brings, Theodore and his fellow tugboats Emily, Foduck, Hank, and George, always like to do the things that friendly tugboats do. Join Theodore and his friends for Big Harbor Bedtime featuring three of our favorite stories under the stars.
'Theodore's Big Decision' - A deep dark secret and an underwater cavern have Pugwash, the Undersea Explorer, missing in action.
'George and the Underwater Mystery' - George's bluster makes raising a submerged satellite even harder for Theodore and Shelburne, the Sea Barge.
'Pugwash is Gone!' - George and Foduck are sent out with Pugwash, the Undersea Explorer, for some salvaging, but the two tugs seem more focused on impressing the local boats than the job at hand.

Theodore and his boating buddies are Canada's seaworthy answer to Thomas the Tank Engine and friends. Each of these three stories is introduced and concluded by the Harbor Master, an oncamera narrator in the person of Denny Doherty, one of the 'papas' of the Mamas and the Papas fame. 'Theodore's Big Decision' finds the tugboat trying to figure out why his friend Pugwash--a small submarine--won't come to the surface. Does she fear the lighthouse or the searchlight or the moon? In 'George and the Underwater Mystery,' Theodore and Shelburne the Sea Barge must placate their scowling boat boss, George, in order to bring a satellite up from the sea floor. Finally, during a salvage operation, tugs George and Foduck compete for a female boat's attention and, in the hubbub of their showing off, fail to notice that 'Pugwash Is Gone!' This 42-minute video will be of particular interest to the vehicle-minded youngster, beginning at ageĀ 2. Other kids will get hooked on the relationships by preschool age. --Kimberly Heinrichs

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Simply the best children's show ever made.
I am nearing the end of high school and I have teenage tastes, yet there is something about Theodore Tugboat that is just very warm and funny. The tugboats are perfect for infants as eye candy, and then as the young ones grow a little older, they can understand the profound and heart-warming lessons provided by the tugboats.

Especially good is the rewatchability of all these episodes. Naturally, any parent who gets Theodore Tugboat for their child will end up watching them hundreds of ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A Little on the Scary Side
My boys, 3 years and 20 months, love watching Theodore. However, I think parents should be aware that this video contains a story that might be a little scary for pre-schoolers. The first story has a Bermuda Trianglesque theme, where boats are known to disappear, complete with music that reflects tension and suspense and some talking rocks that my 3 year-old finds particularly disturbing. He insists that we fast-forward through the first story every time we watch the video. I'm not sure why anyone ... Read More
