This book attempts to explain the function of a mobile crane by comparing it to a live crane, fishing, and bowling. If you are using a metaphor to teach something, you'd better make sure that the student knows what the metaphor is. Most children aged 4 or less have never seen a live crane (bird), have never gone fishing and may not have gone bowling. It's a complete miss.

Working Hard with the Mighty Crane, as with the rest of the series, is informative yet interesting. It has made a relatively "dry" subject surprisingly appetising and makes you want to learn more. Should be of interest not only to little boys. Even parents will learn something new in reading the book to kids.
