Great book for basic security concepts. Some sections (electronics/internet, etc) are outdated, but the book is still very helpful.

"Introduction to Private Security", by Karen Hess and Henry Wrobleski, was published in 1996 but holds up extremely well as a basic but comprehensive introduction into the expanding field of private and corporate security.
