Rating: - NOT HORRIFYING BUT EXCEPTIONALLY WELL WRITTEN!!!
I am a book junkie and was on e-bay a while ago when I found a deal of 52 horror novels for 24 dollars. I jumped on it. I have read around 20 of the books from that collection and to my disappointment, they have not been good. Until this one. This book was magic in its' purest of form. It is properly titled as it will touch your very soul and make you ache for the highly ethical sweetheart of the doctor who is the main character. This one book alone was worth every penny of that 24 dollar investment.
Rating: - Kindness
This is a well written physician-created mystery. Sylvia Nash has a reputation as a merry widow, but Dr. Paul Bulmer braves things to make a house call. The focus of his concern is Sylvia's handicapped adopted child, Jeffy. Alan believes a medical practice cannot be coded; in other words, he believes that medicine is more art than science. He is called to testify before a Congressional committee.
Both Alan and Sylvia are kind. Their connection to each other is tenuous. Alan discovers ... Read More
Rating: - Hard to find, and disappointing
This here's the 3rd in Wilson's THE ADVERSARY CYCLE, after the timeless classic The Keep and the first Repairman Jack novel, The Tomb. The Touch was a disappointment esp after the trouble I had laying my hands on a copy. I'm not quite sure how this book figures into the Adversary cycle, and it seems to be ... Read More
Rating: - A grand work of moral dilehema
Like so many of Wilson's books, the touch deals with not only a supernatural occurrence in a otherwise mundane world but how the characters react to it. The main character of this novel, who makes another appearance in Nightworld, seemed very real to me. Like Steven Gould's spectacular book Jumper, I found myself imagining what I would do at each plot twist only to have the character mirror those thoughts. Wilson puts a lot of thought into his writing. He doesn't just do one even and then progress the next ... Read More
Rating: - Very good read
This is not your typical hooror book but more like a supernatural medical mystery. A very interesting book which you will need backround to follow, The Keep really needs to be read first or this could lose you, definitely not a stand alone book, but it is so good I still gave it 5 stars.
