Product Description:
To everyone who sees her, Cassandra Westbrook exudes a cool beauty and an aloofness borne of wealth and privilege. A connoisseur of exquisite objects, she collects whatever catches her eye. While attending an auction, her interest is captivated by a set of Native American ledger drawings and -- almost as mesmerizing -- the handsome man who is bidding against her.
Cassandra comes to possess the drawings and the mysterious stranger's interest. But after a few moments of provocative conversation, he walks away.
Thomas Warrior has every intention of seeing the woman again, but on his terms, not hers, and certainly not at the home of his adopted mother, who wants him to mentor Cassandra's talented but introverted nephew. At first Thomas is hesitant to help. But Cassandra's seductive charm has him agreeing in spite of himself.
Soon Cassandra and Thomas succumb to their passions, but Thomas is wary. After all, he has brought himself up from the mean streets of the inner city while Cassandra is used to a more polished type of man. But Thomas is also famous beyond his imagination, a gift that haunts his darkest hours. His creations have begun to take on a life of their own, threatening everything he holds dear.
Like Thomas's graphic novels, the ledger drawings tell fabulous tales of tricksters and heroes, but what secrets might be hidden in those pages? With the sudden disappearance of both the drawings and her nephew, Cassandra must look to Thomas for answers. How badly did he want the old drawings, and are there clues to the boy's whereabouts in his own work? Are the trickster and the hero one and the same? If not, which one is Cassandra's lover? And which one is out to do her mortal harm?

Average Rating:
Rating: - Worst book by Kathleen Eagle
I have read all of her books and this one was terrible. Pass it by. Instead read one of Kathleen Eagles best novels This Time Forever or The Last True Cowboy. I wish I had not wasted my monet on this one.
Rating: - An excellent Eagle novel!
I thought this was the best Eagle book I've read in a number of years, probably since THE NIGHT REMEMBERS. It has a riveting plotline, a fast pace, a strong, dark story, a sexy love story. Eagle always gives readers an honest, intelligent book, but I thought this one had more energy and spark than some of her other recent books, and I really enjoyed it.
Rating: - Good, not great
Having read about 20 of Kathleen Eagle's books, I was disappointed by this one. The dialog is quite good - an Eagle strong point - but the pendulum swing of emotions is sometimes unbelievable, and not always clearly explained. An enjoyable read, but not destined to be read over and over like her better works (This Time Forever, A Reason to Believe). I wish I had waited for the paperback.
Rating: - Kathleen Eagle is an author to return to time & again
What the Heart Knows is still my favorite, followed closely by Night Remembers. This book follows and enhances the characters from the previous book. At first I thought I wasn't going to like it because Cassandra didn't trust Thomas. I stuck around to see how that was worked out and fell in love with the book. So, if you're like me and you like those characters built up as solid and stable right from the first, I encourage you to stick around to see how Kathleen Eagle works this out. I can't ... Read More
Rating: - The rare sequel that lives up to the original
This is a sequel to what was possibly Kathleen Eagle's best book. I was nervous about her revisting these characters. This is true to the original and enhances it rather than detracts for it. Tommy T has grown up in to be a man and to have family conflicts firmly rooted in the Tommy T we knew as a child. Never explotative nor preaching about mixed heritage or Native American traditions, the theme of Native American tradition is perfectly used to move the plot forward. This romance deals deftly ...
