Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great cliffhanger--her first book and it is spellbinding
I read this book when it was new and at the time I had a son the age of Ben. I had little time for any reading at the time, but was drawn in every moment I could spare for a few days until I finished it. Amazing for a first novel--extremely well written and gripping.

I saw the movie, mainly because I love Michelle Pfeiffer, but it couldn't hold a candle to the book. So, I echo the review that said read this even if you've seen the movie--great read!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Not a big fan
I read this book because Oprah recommended it and I have to say I was confused as to why she recommended it. It was painfully and unnecessarily long and should have been edited better. As a parent, yes I can sympathize, but that doesn't make me like this book.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Every mothers worst nightmare...

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - It was both a great and not so great....
Depressing? Yes. Well written? Yes. This story truly is every mothers worst nightmare. But as a mother, I feel it worthy to know about the horrors of the world so I read and become more aware to the point of paranoid at times. Anyway, I don't hate Beth. The mistake she made could be anyone's. I don't think I could survive a child of mine being taken. I can't say I could be strong for my other children either so I can't judge her. I think I lost a little interest in the book after they found out what ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wow!
I read this book before the movie over and over again. It is a compelling book which keeps you guessing and tugging at your heart. The twists and turns throughout the books were exciting.

Definitely a book you cannot put down!
